Toronto Mourns the loss of a community leader, Coach and an entrepreneur – Lukman Akanbi


The Toronto community in Canada mourns the death of Mr. Lukman Akanbi, one of the foremost community leaders and elder who devoted his life to helping and promoting young people. He passed away on Jan 12th, 2023.


Mr. Lukman was the founder of Kiza Restaurants with locations in Nairobi, Kenya, Dubai and Toronto. He successfully operated the Toronto location till the COVID-19 pandemic.

He was also a business strategist and coach with over 30 years experience at leading diverse areas of business, where he also helped take entrepreneurs to the next level when it comes to launching and scaling different business ventures.


He supported many events and businesses in the greater Toronto area including the AFROFEST Toronto and Music Africa, the Juno Awards, the Pascal Atuma Show, the Suya Spots events, baifastores and takeonesnack, The Miss Africa Canada, The African Entertainments Awards and Artist Davido’s 30 billion shows in Toronto, and many others.


Mr. Lukman will be remembered for his community and youth development efforts. He is irreplaceable. May his soul rest in peace
