Trudeau re-elected in Papineau riding, Liberals to form minority government
Trudeau has held Papineau seat since 2008
MONTREAL – Chants of “four more years” erupted at the Liberal headquarters in Montreal Monday night as the party was declared victorious
Liberal leader Justin Trudeau won handily after leaping to an early lead in his Papineau riding, a seat which he has held since 2008.
Trudeau is expected to speak from his party’s headquarters later this evening.
He was previously elected as the 23rd prime minister during the 2015 federal election with a majority government.
Trudeau entered politics in 2007 after winning the Liberal Party nomination in the riding of Papineau-Montreal. He was elected leader of the Liberal Party in April 2013.
