Delta Goodrem is opening up about her health battle.
The 35-year-old Australian singer-songwriter shared a heartbreaking story which prevented her from releasing music for some time in a video on Instagram about the inspiration behind her new single, “Paralyzed.”
In the clips, Delta shared how she battled through rehabilitation after her tongue was paralyzed following the removal of a salivary gland in surgery, resulting in speech loss. The footage showcased her trying over and over to regain control of her speech.
“As a songwriter, I write songs from my own experiences. I tell stories about the path I have been on, wondering if anyone else has been on a similar journey…the first step in writing this new record was a personal transformation that I didn’t know I needed in my life! Even though, as I am sharing today, it was a challenging one – I learned so much and I’m so grateful to be here healthy, happy and singing away,” she captioned the post.
