It's been a huge year for Beyonc, and no one is more aware of this than the star herself! Taking to Instagram in a rare outpouring of emotion, the mother of three looked back on all the milestones she marked over the past twelve months. "At 36, I became a new mother of 3. I breastfed twins. I renewed my vows with my husband of ten years. I came back home to the stage to do Coachella, after pregnancy," she said on Thursday (Sept. 6) alongside a beautiful domestic moment of the singer cutting her cake in a garden with husband JAY-Z snapping her photo.
"Then my husband and I released our album together, Everything Is Love. And we have been touring with our family around the world, and loving it," she continued of the pair's On The Run II world tour, which has seen Blue Ivy, 6, and one-year-old twins Rumi and Sir along for the ride. "This year has been monumental for me."
And she's grateful for everything that's come her way, especially where her fans are concerned. The 37-year-old capped off the heartfelt note by thanking the Bey Hive.
"I thank God for everyone in my life. Thank you for all the positivity and for the beautiful birthday wishes. I'm looking forward to continuing to learn from my past, living in the present, and surrendering to the future. I love you, Hive. B"
Beyonc has always put her family first, from bringing her children on tour to working through marital issues with her husband via their art. This year she opened up to Vogue in an unprecedented September issue cover about the complications she faced giving birth to the twins.
I was swollen from toxemia [also known as preeclampsia, a rare condition that causes high blood pressure] and had been on bed rest for over a month, she revealed alongside the photographs by 23-year-old Tyler Mitchell, the first black photographer to ever shoot the famed issue's cover. "My health and my babies health were in danger, so I had an emergency C-section.
Beyonce also spoke of sharing the experience with her partner, 48-year-old JAY-Z. We spent many weeks in the NICU. My husband was a soldier and such a strong support system for me. I am proud to have been a witness to his strength and evolution as a man, a best friend, and a father. I was in survival mode and did not grasp it all until months later.
The couple has been spending quality time with their children in Europe this summer, and the lovebirds marked her big day on a luxe stop in Sardinia, where they spent the day on a boat and visited La Casitta restaurant on Maddalena island, according to the Daily Mail.
The birthday girl looked gorgeous in a leafy beach look that featured a bikini top with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a matching skirt, which she topped off with an oversized straw hat. JAY-Z donned his vacation finest too - a Hawaiian shirt with athletic trousers, white sneakers and a bandana. They'll be back on the road in a week when they hit the stage in Texas on Sept. 11 to kick off what is sure to be another exceptional year!
