The world premiere of “The Lion King” in Los Angeles last week was a star-studded affair, but the London screening brought out two royal V.I.P.’s – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were on hand for the big night on Sunday, and they even met another world-famous couple for the first time – none other than Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Beyoncé voices Nala in the highly-anticipated adaptation.
Bey and Meghan hugged upon meeting at the event, and People reports that Beyoncé was heard telling Meghan, “The baby is so beautiful.” “The baby” is presumably Meghan and Harry’s 2-month-old son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who just had his christening earlier this month. According to Page Six, Meghan wore a dress designed by Jason Wu to the premiere. Beyoncé’s gold gown was Cong Tri.
Beyoncé wasn’t the only “Lion King” cast member who had a memorable meeting with Meghan. Billy Eichner, who’s behind Timon in the movie, shares a special bond with the Duchess. They both attended Northwestern and got to chat about their former acting teachers! He wrote alongside a video on Twitter, “OMG Here I am completely freaking out to @Sethrogen about how I’m going to greet Prince Harry and Meghan I’M CRYING.”
